Here at South Downs Discovery, our aim is to share our passion for this beautiful area and use our in-depth knowledge to help you get the very most from your visit. We offer high quality, great value self-guided walking holidays showcasing the very best the South Downs has to offer.

We also run a daily baggage transfer service if you prefer to travel independently. By specialising in the South Downs Way, we can concentrate on our area of expertise while doing what we love.

We’ll help you see the very best of the South Downs National Park, whether it’s the historic pub tucked away in a quiet village, or the amazingly preserved Roman Villa just off the trail. Our friendly and flexible approach means we can offer a genuinely bespoke service; we’ll work with you to help you plan your perfect holiday.

Between us we have over 30 years experience putting together tailormade holidays. Each member of our team is a keen walker and we’ve all walked (and cycled!) the South Downs Way many times, and every walk we offer is one we have enjoyed ourselves. Put another way, we talk the talk because we’ve walked the walk!

We’ve also spent many happy hours testing out the B&B’s, pubs and restaurants along the way. In fact, we try out every aspect of your holiday so that we can be 100% confident that it meets our exacting standards – it’s a tough job but someone has to do it!

Paul is the founder of South Downs Discovery and deals with all our walking holiday and baggage transfer bookings.

I was driven to found South Downs Discovery in 2010 by a passion to share my love of what I believe is a very underrated part of the UK. It also meant I was able to indulge my loves of walking, cycling, eating good food and drinking real ale!

Having graduated in Tourism Management 17 years ago (time flies!), I worked in various roles within the travel & tourism industry before taking the leap and embarking on my own venture. I’ve been lucky enough to travel all over the world but there’s few places I’d rather be than out on the South Downs.

Having lived in Sussex for the best part of a decade, I’ve recently relocated to Cheshire to be closer to my wife’s family. During the walking season I’m back down in the South Downs at least a couple of times each month and really relish my visits!

Jo is our operations manager and looks after all the admin side of things to ensure everything runs smoothly. She runs a very tight ship!

Originally from the North-West of England, I’ve done my fair share of travelling over the years and spent a large part of my life after university living abroad, but few places have a place in my heart like the South Downs. I lived in Sussex with my husband Paul for many years and we spent many happy weekends and evenings out walking in the South Downs. I particularly love Amberley with its picture perfect thatched cottages and the view as you climb out of the village heading east is spectacular!

Barry researches many of our walks, as well as testing out the pubs and restaurants along the way. We try to make sure he does the walk before he goes to the pub!

I first walked the South Downs Way more years ago than I care to remember! When I walked it again a few years ago, I was struck by how little had changed. The South Downs retain the feel of a bygone era, with unspoilt rural landscapes and traditional villages. All the more remarkable given the proximity to urban areas like London and Brighton!
