South Downs Way – Nine Days – Relaxed Pace

Winchester to Exton – 12 miles / 19 kms
Take some time to explore the delights of historic Winchester before setting off into the rolling green Hampshire countryside.
Exton to Buriton – 13 miles / 21 kms
Pass the highest point on the trail before walking through the beautiful Queen Elizabeth country park just before you get to Buriton.
Buriton to Cocking – 11 miles / 18 kms
Outstanding views inland from Harting Down, stop off for refreshments at the excellent Cadence cafe just before you take the footpath down into Cocking.
Cocking to Amberley – 12 miles / 19 kms
Beautiful rolling hills today, there’s another excellent cafe at Littleton Farm which is around the halfway point.
Amberley to Upper Beeding – 13 miles / 21 kms
Beautiful views over Amberley Wild nBrooks as you climb out of Amberley. If you get a clear day you should get your first glimpses of the sea!
Upper Beeding to Pyecombe – 10 miles / 16 kms
Highlights today include Devils Dyke, a very impressive v-shaped dry valley.
Pyecombe to Rodmell – 15 miles / 24 kms
Some spectactular ridgeline walking today.
Rodmell to Alfriston – 10 miles / 16 kms
Sweeping views inland towards the North Downs and out to sea before arriving in the picturesque village of Alfriston.
Alfriston to Eastbourne – 12 miles / 19 kms
Finish the walk with the beautiful, meandering Cuckmere valley before taking on the Seven Sisters and Beachy head. This spectacular coastal route makes a fantastic finale to the walk!
