Exton & Warnford
Get in touchDistance from the South Downs Way: Exton – Right on the path
The South Downs Way currently runs right through the village of Exton. We say currently because this is a temporary route as work is in progress on a new route bypassing Exton, keeping to the hilltop to the north. The compensation for losing a visit to this pretty village will be the stunning views from the hillside and it will still only be a half-hour (return) detour. As soon as anything changes, we’ll let you know!
Exton is the smallest of the pretty Meon villages, located around 10 miles from Winchester along the South Downs Way. It’s a historic village which can trace its roots as far back as 940AD. These days it makes a great stop when walking or cycling along the South Downs Way, with a couple of pubs to choose from.
It has a couple of very near neighbours; the hamlets of Meonstoke & Corhampton, picturesquely situated on the river Meon, are around a mile away.
Distance from the South Downs Way: Warnford – One and a half miles
Warnford is a pretty village with a historic church and a good pub. As well as being close to the South Downs Way, the village is also on the long-distance footpath the Monarch’s Way.
