South Downs Way – Six Days – Very Quick Pace
Here’s a suggested six-day itinerary which should be helpful if you plan to organise your own accommodation. You’ll need to be very fit and up for a challenge though! If you’d prefer for us to take all the hassle out of arranging your trip, we offer a range of good quality, self-guided walking holidays along the South Downs Way.
Winchester to East Meon – 18 miles / 29 km
Highlights include the historic delights of Winchester (definitely spend a day & night there before you start walking), Old Winchester Hill & Beacon Hill nature reserve.
East Meon to Cocking- 17 Miles / 27 km
Highlights include Butser Hill, the highest point on the trail and Queen Elizabeth natural park. Look out for sweeping views inland towards the North Downs from the top of Harting Down.
Cocking to Storrington – 17 miles / 27 km
Stop for lunch in the beautiful village of Amberley, it’s got a couple of great pubs and an excellent village store.
Storrington to Pyecombe – 18 miles / 29 km
Beautiful panoramic views towards the sea & inland.
Pyecombe to Rodmell – 15 miles /24 km
Some beautiful ridgeline walking today, some of the best views along the whole trail.
Rodmell to Eastbourne – 21 miles / 34 km
A very long day to finish on and plenty of ups and downs. The spectacular coastal section is a great way to round the walk off and you’ll definitely have a real sense of accomplishment after completing the South Downs Way in just 6 days!
